After noticing that a straight bit on my router could carve delicious layers into a block of wood I sketched out a rough topographic “map” on a piece of redwood. It took a number of days to work through it because the work requires careful control of the bit, it can’t be rushed. The resulting piece is a nice blend of wood grain against the topographic lines.
